Truly different and probing on the practice of astrology

I learned so much from this book! Here are the reasons I gave it five stars:
(1) The book begins in the logical place: what does a good astrologer's chart look like? While Uranus gets its due, the discussion of Saturn is excellent. Robert ties it directly what makes a truly "professional" astrologer.
(2) The book makes the most important things simple and straightforward: "What you offer clients depends on your philosophy about astrology. Because astrology IS a philosophy." It goes on to discuss fate and free will in depth, showing how an astrologer MUST be clear on this in order to help a client see the broad developmental scope of their lives, rather than do some kind of fortune-telling.
(3) It seems strange that an astrologer would stand out for seeing planetary movement, for what could be more essential? Here, the continuous interactions of the planets are seen as a beautiful moving tapestry, where every thread points to the whole cloth, and the whole cloth illuminates every thread. The book’s mantra is: "make something out of everything you see." The author finds depth and meaning in every last shifting detail of the chart. His work is a revelation to me in this way.
(4) The author calls what he does "developmental astrology:" astrology is about the time and movement of our lives, from birth to death and beyond. This inspires me by going beyond a static view of the chart more than any other book I've read.
(5) The book shows me how an astrologer must be a psychologist. Carl Jung's idea of "synchronicity" and the four elements is made fully alive and down to earth in the details of the chart. It shows how astrology takes into account much more than Jung. There is a deep and pointed discussion of modern psychiatric diagnosis that is a joy to read. The use of synchronicity with "psychosomatic" illness brought greater clarity to my thinking about this.
(5) The author rightly insists on the necessity of an accurate birth time. His approach to rectification is a gem. Buy the book for this if for nothing else!
A word of warning to both astrologers and doubters: this one-of-a-kind book will shake up everything you thought you knew about astrology. This book took me to the depths, yet entertained, and the read was easy as a breeze. Someday I hope this book will be recognized for the classic it is.

What a bargain

I so agree with Michaels review. Robert is a great practical astrologer that helps you to see how a chart can sing to you. Of all the well known teachers that I have had, I doubt they are as good or as sharing it all as Robert. You can not go wrong with this book.
