About the Author
Anthony Giddens, former director of the London School of Economics and a current member of the House of Lords, is a world-renowned social theorist who has written over forty books. He has written on just about every major topic in sociology but is best known for his work on modernization theory and globalization.

Mitchell Duneier is an award-winning urban ethnographer at Princeton University and the City University of New York Graduate Center. He is most famous for his book Sidewalk, which won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. Duneier's research focuses on the urban poor and other groups in the margins of society.

Richard P. Appelbaum, the MacArthur chair of Global Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, has won several awards for his teaching and works mainly on globalization and labor issues. Appelbaum is the coauthor of Behind the Label.

Deborah Carr is a demographer and an active teacher at Rutgers University, where she regularly teaches the intro course. Her work focuses on sociology of the life course, aging, social psychology, and gender. Carr's latest book, Worried Sick: How Stress Hurts Us and How to Bounce Back, looks at how stress gets under our skin, makes us sick, and how and why people cope with stress differently.

Written by Jane Yolen, the author of the "How do Dinosaurs . . . ." series, it is well-written and interesting. This book has great illustrations, and was written together with Jane Yolen and her daughter, Heidi E. Yolen Stemple. I am a teacher and am using it with my fifth graders to teach a lesson on the first British colonies to the New World.

3D Printing & CNC Fabrication with Sketchp

Great book for getting started with Sketchup. The step-by-step projects are a fine reference even after completing the exercises. It is occasionally confusing because it is based on a slightly older version of the program but that just makes the lessons a bit more challenging. I now know I made a good choice with Sketchup as a first 3D design tool.

It is a more like a beginner's SketchUp book with limited introduction to 3d printing and CNC fabrication. I previously purchased 3D Prining with SketchUp by Marcus Ritland and that book has way more information than this one. Also, I downloaded MakerBot In the Classroom from Thingiverse which also covered the same if not more information on 3d printing using different programs instead of SketchUp.

It is a okay book for people with no SketchUp or 3d printing experience and wants to get started.

I have been to Jamaica five times in my life, so far, and every time I go I fall in love with it a little more. I find new places to stay, new places to eat, and I meet a bunch of new people who live there and who are visiting. It is unlike any other place I have been to on earth. If you have heard stories about Jamaica and are nervous about traveling there, then this book will help you out. Jamaica is a poor country. There is crime in Jamaica but thankfully most of the crime in Negril is property crime. I have never had anything stolen while staying in Negril or visiting Jamaica. I wrote this book in part, to help people out who have never been there. This book is a comprehensive guide to Seven Mile Beach in Negril, Jamaica. If you are new to Negril or if you are a seasoned traveler, this book will help you plan your trip to Seven Mile Beach. It contains a complete list of all the available rooms to rent, a list of restaurants to try, a list of items to pack, a nice description of Seven Mile Beach, and any other information you will need to travel to Negril’s Seven Mile Beach. I have tried to make this the only reference material you will need when planning your trip to Negril. Eire!

Saved our lives in Negril!

Even though, as Scott warns, the names of places in Negril change constantly, this book was invaluable in helping us find our way up and down the beach once we were there. The verbal "map" was especially helpful.

Update for the author and other readers: The place just east of Hedonism II, before Grand Lido, is better known as Point Village, made up of many condos with individual owners who may or may not rent them. We stayed in a studio there. Some years ago, it was a resort hotel, but now the former hotel buildings are in a state of disrepair. However, our studio was affordable, the grounds are a place of incredible natural beauty, with two private beaches and rock pools, and it is quiet and very secure.

It is like getting tips from a good friend

I have both the Kindle and book of this. I read it before going to Negril and by the time I got there, I felt like I had been there before. Yes, it is on a basic level-- yet it is like talking to a good friend before going to Negril. A great little book to bring along to look-up info during your trip. I wished my hubby read the book before we went--at first he was overwhelm (people trying to sell him things etc) but I told him some of the tips I read from the book and it worked, he felt better and was able to enjoy the culture. We LOVE Negril and look to return as soon as we can. A place not for everyone but after reading this book and if your not "scared off" you will fall in love with the place.

About the Author
Dr. Ridel possesses an educational and business background that spans over three decades. He was schooled in the social sciences (sociology, psychology) and received specialized training in conflict sociology and behavioral psychology. Robert’s educational background also includes solid exposure to the humanities, including studies in culture, ethics, philosophy, and (his passion) critical thinking. He earned his degrees, including his Ph.D., through the University of California system. Dr. Ridel is currently the Dean of Retention at the University of Phoenix – which was his occupational home for over 10 years as Academic Dean, Area Chair, and Lead Faculty. He also served as Lecturer and Department Chair at various universities across the United States and overseas in Europe and Asia. In addition, Robert was associated with the National Institutes of Health (Research Fellow – Laboratory of Brain Evolution and Behavior) and the United Nations (Field Observer – Africa). He also founded a business management and career consulting firm that worked with companies to become more profitable, as well as with professionals to manage and advance in their careers. Although he has occupied various positions in his professional life, Dr. Ridel’s primary interests continue to be focused on the field of educational administration and helping students proceed through their programs of study and develop within their chosen career paths.

Excellent Read!

Seldom do I find a book that I want to read cover to cover let alone a textbook. "Critical Thinking in Everyday Life" was stimulating to read and expanded the way I view the outside world and how I process information. I felt as though the author did an excellent job connecting with his readers by offering a variety of real life examples that were relatable.

This textbook belongs in a classroom with college students or professional adults who want to transform the way they think. By the end of the book, my problem-solving skills were sharper, and I felt empowered and more confident to ask questions.

I found this textbook to be a fundamental building block in helping me become a better critical thinker.

I am a student at Phoenix University and searched all over the internet and didn't find this the first time on Amazon. The value of this book was great and has helped me with my lessons. I would definitely recommend this book.

A MUST READ

I am truthfully in awe of this book. It is one of my text books for University of Phoenix, but don't let that fool you. Dr. Ridel has a way with writing so that it is both informative and entertaining at the same time. It is a wonderful learning tool. I will recommend this to friends and family alike. I feel that other schools and teachers need to be made aware of this tool and be able to utilize it for both kids and adults. A MUST READ FOR ANYONE! I am contemplating purchasing for my own collection after this class is finished.

I'm kind of speechless right now. Okay, let me try to put into words how great this book was. I'm kind of reeling from the ending so I hope I can find the words..."The List" is what makes this book for me. The list is what brings someone special into her life, what motivates her & what will give her a new life. I won't tell you what the list exactly is... but it was amazing. Sweet and steamy. A good combo! So, ... I am giving this book 5 stars!! Read it! Read it!
It's a romance novel but so much more. I really enjoyed getting to know Elle and everything that she has endured, but is trying to overcome. And the list??? You need to know the list!!

Buyer Beware

I don't appreciate being tricked into buying the end of this book. I downloaded this book from a website that alerts you of free kindle books. It looked interesting. Once I got into it, I kept reading just for the sake of finishing something I started. The writing was mediocre at best. When the book FINALLY had some decent conflict in the story arc, the book ends and you are prompted to BUY book 2. I have never seen anything like this. Again, I didn't appreciate the manipulation by the author. Idea...brush up on your writing skills, and your books - priced from the start will sell themselves.

Part 1 --so you will have to purchase part II

Didn't appreciate the fact that this was a part one of 2 books, and just dropped off in the middle of an exciting scene. Would never have gotten this book. The writing was ok, and book 1 was interesting, but will not read this author again because of this. I don't mind buying a book, but don't want to be forced to purchase a part II to finish the original book.

Decent read but it sucks that it cuts the story short and to find out what happens you have to buy another book! Throughout the story line its building to make you want to know then it's not there. Very disappointing to say the least.

Truly the "Greatest Story ever Told"

Fascinating take on the life of Christ written with factual events from the gospels mixed with the author's vast imagination of what 1st Century Israel may have looked like. From the introduction of Barabbas to Pilate's court, it's a very good book to read and contemplate. Every character is brought into vivid detail and makes you kind of know and care about them from the poor and oppressed who meet Christ to those who are his greatest enemies. Fabulous book and something you'll always treasure!

The Greatest Story Ever Told

I bought this product as part of a Unit Study for my oldest son who wanted to study the Roman Empire. We started listening to it in our car. It is very entertaining. I have two other children who listen as well, everyone is quiet while it is on because it is very well told. I think this would be great just to buy and listen to!

Very bad copy!

This "e-book" is one of the worst scanned documents I have ever seen! It is a badly scanned copy with lines cut out and letters along the rim cut off. The book is wonderfully written. I'd suggest you buy a hard copy and scan it yourself. 5 Star book 0 star copy! If they gave it away for free it would still be an injustice! Whoever did this doesn't deserve your money!
